Our mission...
Welcome
to the Art Deck-O website, my name is Kelly Hanna.
Our
company designs and builds decks, pergolas arbors, fences & other outdoor
structures. My
personal
mission is to bring craftsmanship back into the carpentry business, something
sadly missing
from
today's companies. Everything we build for you is designed and constructed
as if it were our own
with
careful thought along the way to insure your satisfaction.
As
the owner and master craftsman, I personally handle all phases of your
project from design to
finish
out. I work from your design or mine, working from drawings or building
from a verbal idea. I run
a
small crew of craftsmen who share my desire for quality workmanship and
open
communication
lines during the build.
Once
your project begins, all materials are hand picked and delivered by us
saving you from expensive
delivery
fees. Each single piece of wood we use is chosen this way to insure
nothing but the best stock for
milling.
All framing is built from the finest pressure treated pine available [Pro
Wood], which has proven
to
be the most stable treated product in existance today. Decking can be chosen
from several domestic and
exotic
woods.
As
the build progresses, we clean & organize the jobsite daily and never
leave an
unsightly
mess. I also take extra time to 'see' and build in artistic touches
along
the way. First I envision what I would build if your house were mine, then
add in what
your
ideas and needs. Taking this approach always results in a much nicer project
and
our
clients being much happier with their project. We're always open to changes
even in
the
middle of a project...from time to time we even suggest them ourselves!
We
only use stainless ring shanked full round head nails and stainless square
drive
screws
for our connectors. No framing is ever toenailed, I only nail at 90 degrees
to
insure
full strength at each connection point. Key points also get 3" deck screws
or
1/2"
lag bolts or screws where necessary. Each deck or fence is built to code
whether
or
not a permit is required. Any time one is required, we handle all aspects
of the
process
for you including filing and inspection schedules.
Special
care is taken to round off all sharp edges with a router so that no one
gets a
splinter
or a cut from a hard surface. This includes all pergola supports that extend
above
deck
level as well as benches, railings, etc. Our decking is spaced for gaps
uniformly
across the entire deck. We can install the decking with either face screws
or
hidden
fasteners. Plenty of room is left for areas decked around trees or
plants
to insure proper growth. I always explain exactly what we are going to
do for you
and
how long it will take us to finish.
One
thing we don't ever do, tell you the cost of your project then surprise
you at the end with
extra
charges "for something we didn't think we'd run into". I know my material
costs very well and
am
an expert estimator. In fact, the only time I have ever added charges to
a project was when the
homeowner
added to the scope of the project. Most minor changes along the way do
not affect
the
cost, some even help to minimize the wood we have left over [which usually
isn't very much anyway].
Please call for free estimate & consultation!

Our
2nd Mission...
I
ran an ad on Craigslst for free wood I had reclaimed from a demolition
and we met two people
who
are really making a difference in wildlife rescue & rehabilitation.
Valeri
& Mike Marler operate
Cross
Timbers Ranch in Terrell, Texas...home of The Crosstimbers
Wildlife
Rescue & Rehabilitation Education Center. Their approach to wildlife
and land
management
is extremely unique and we've taken it upon ourselves to help in any way
we can.
The
plans are quite extensive for education, nature adventures and entertainment
for all ages and
we're
very excited to be able to help build one of the most unique ranches of
our time.
We
donate our time now and in the near future, tools & labor to help build
the facility to the master plan
Valeri
and Mike have in mind for the ranch. Along with materials when they need
them, the extra hands
will
help them get the builds done in much less time than they planned on initially.
We are also donating the
gift
cards from our returns to Home Depot and Lowe's for the center to
help. Later we hope to be able to set
up
a fund to help with food and medical sup-plies for the animals. Right now,
my wife Jana is helping out
with
feeding duties 2-3 days a week and she's very in tune with the animals...you
can see from the photo below
that
she's partial to cats [we have three at home].
This
week, the newest addition to the ranch is Pocahontas and the proud mama
is Mulan. There are not
many
places this close to the city where you can hold a baby goat and pet twin
bobcats in the same day.
You
can see Jana with Hoover [one of the twin bobcats] in the photo on the
right.
If
you would like more information, please visit the Cross
Timbers Ranch website. You can roll over the
photos
below for ditional links to their site.
Thank you for visiting Art Deck-O, We look forward to meeting and working with you!
