Crossroads Guitar Festival
Jimmie Vaughn, older
brother of Stevie Ray, was next in line. I have seen the Fabulous Thunderbirds
more than a few
times...twice in 1981 with the Stones and ZZ Top right here in the Cotton
Bowl. While they were pretty good, I had never really gotten into Jimmie
or his music. I was a very big fan of Stevie Ray's.
That being said I
was very happy to see him this time around. I had never seen him play the
blues like he did
at the festival.
He was very good to say the least. I have a newly found respect for him
after the show.
In the last pic you can see the wind getting up as the front blew in slowly. We had several hours of cloudy and windy weather...a blessing in June! The pic was taken while the band opened with their first tune and the curtain was still going up.
