Crossroads Guitar Festival
Neal Schon
First to appear
on the bill was Neal Schon of Journey and Santana fame. Neither band ever
showcased his talents as a master guitarist in my opinion. After a very
good rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, he covered Hendrix's Little
Wing....both songs lasted 20 minutes total. Very ncie guitar work....Randy
Jackson of American Idol fame played the bass and did an excellent job
of it. Jonathan Cain (also of Journey) played keyboards (which sort of
took me surprise since I never heard any keyboards to speak of). I didn't
catch the drummer's name, but he was good. Not much of a crowd for the
first act, but the floor was packed up front!
