New DeWalt 12" Belt Drive Compound Miter Saw & 'Old School' Jobsite Stand
Having worked
on just about every miter saw stand there is, I was always finding them
lacking what
the old school miter saw boxes had....storage space and a place to put
everything you
need to use with the miter saw.
I decided it was
time to sell the portable stand I had and build my own. I used 1 sheet
of 3/4" sanded
pine ply and
three 2x4x92.5 studs. The fences are Redwood I had in the shop. The stand
fits on my
sawhorses and
has provisions for a threaded rod attachment to the sawhorses for stability.
The saw itself
bolts to the
table with four 3/8x4" bolts, washers and nuts.
I bought a 16"
tool bag for the miter saw accessories I always use...stop blocks, clamps,
angle finder,
pencils, threaded
rods, etc. Tomorrow [December 1st], the new setup gets it's maiden run
at the jobsite. I
finished it with
linseed oil and Helmsman Spar Urethane to protect it from the elements,
at least
for a little
while. I used the DeWalt during the construction of the stand...I am very
impressed
with it's performance!
