The 'New' Shop

Moving to Terrell had it's distinct advantages for me. I got a stand alone, 2-story workshop!! We had figured it would not be operational until late October, but with a change in plans for the schedule, it became imperative that I get it ship shape much sooner. Thomas and I worked on it for 2 1/2 days this last week and I worked all weekend getting unpacked and arranged. This is of course the first incarnation and it will be changed when the 220's are installed and the 10x14 addition is built this fall (I hope).

The second floor is going to be a finishing room and wood storage area after I get Jana's storage building built for her exercise equipment business. Today we start a stain-grade maple library wall project....I got the shop cleaned up last nite around 1am...so we could start messing iot up this morning just before noon after the materials run.

The two tower storage units have not been trimmed out yet nor doors made for them. The goal is to have everything behind doors to cut down on dust. The DC and compressor will eventually go into the 10x14 addition so for now we do without the DC, but the compressor fits fine. You'll notice the wall
in pics 8 & 9.....it had to be removed to make the shop open and functional.
He never had a TS in the shop so he didn't need the space.

We decided to utilize the upstairs joists for additional storage, by installing flat 2x4 blocking....there's a ton of stuff up there now. Part of me will miss the 10' ceilings I had in Dallas, but the other part really likes this new system of storage. I am going to have to be careful when I twirl boards over my head huh?

The one thing this shop has over the last is a DirecTV feed. I will be building a weatherproof door behind the TV eventually to allow it to be seen in the BBQ area just outside the shop under the 250 year old Pecan tree.
This has already become the place to sit and visit with friends. Everyone uses the back door to come visit, so it seems natural. The deck is 12x28 and is partially covered. I even got a deck outside the shop!

Right now I have over 600 sq. ft. to house everything I had in 440 back in Dallas.
I hope to soon increase this to 740 total. Hope you enjoy the virtual tour! The pics below
are shown in cronological order from when the previous owner showed me the shop
during the inspection and finishing up with shots taken last nite and this morning.
